My husband "Sarge" is a three-tour 101st Airborne Vietnam Combat Veteran who is also a nationally accredited musician and poet.
Sarge's award winning blues music has been used in documentaries such as "In The Shadow Of The Blade" which won Best of Show at the 2004 Houston International Film Festival and "Small Town Secrets" which is televised on Country Music Television. Sarge is also featured in a film called "A Boy Named Jake" which was directed by Sami Saif, director of "Dogville Confessions" with Nicole Kidman. Sarge's CD "Vietnam Blues...Combat Tested Blues...For Peace" has been the recipient of several Billboard awards and his CD can be sampled at vietnamblues.com. and cdbaby.com. It can also be digitally downloaded at all the major music sites like Napster, Apple iTunes, Rhapsody, Music Net, etc..

ur business has presented many exciting opportunities to us such as traveling coast to coast for concert performances, Slam Poetry competitions, and college engagements. I must say that one of our most exciting experiences was when Sarge sent his Vietnam Blues recording to Lee Oskar who played harmonica for the group WAR with platinum hits like "Cisco Kid," "The World Is A Ghetto," "Spill The Wine," and "Why Can't We Be Friends."
Lee listened to the CD and called us from his California home to tell Sarge that he loved the CD and that he'd like to come to Phoenix to jam with Sarge and the other players on the CD. Of course we were ecstatic and asked Lee if he'd be interested in turning the jam into a fundraiser for a worthy cause. Lee said he thought that was a terrific idea so Sarge and I created "Harmonicas Against Hunger" -- a benefit for St. Mary's Food Bank. The event was a huge success and Lee came out four other times to donate his phenomenal talent to our fundraisers.
The first couple of times his wife and business partner, also named Leslie, came to the events and we all quickly became friends. Lee is creator and owner of Lee Oskar Harmonicas and he sponsors Sarge which is an awesome endorsement of Sarge's harmonica talent. Lee also brought Sarge on board for a Lee Oskar Productions enterprise of making voice ringers for cellphone carriers. At T-Mobile and AT&T, you can download Sarge as Army Sergeant yelling "Incoming" and "Mail Call" or as the hippie saying "Don't Freak Out, Man, It's Just The Phone" and "Peace 'n Love."
